In praise of Motherhood - the new act of Rebellion

There have been great gains by the Cultural Marxists to move the Overton Window against the praise of motherhood as a life goal and as a "profession".  Gone are the aspirations of young women to build and maintain a household of their own in concert with a mate and lifepartner; to raise a healthy and productive family; and to see that as worthwhile and a hallmark of personal satisfaction and contentment - no, now we are blessed with militant "feminists" who seek to defile one of the core precepts of the foundation of Western civilization - the traditional family. Without women who are called to "Motherhood", there is no traditional family, and no foundation for Western civ.

The first fusillade launched in the Marxists war on the traditional family I believe was not just the development of artificial contraception for women, but the marketing of contraception as a license to be a libertine:  rather than as a tool for responsible couples to use for "family planning", it was sold by the Progressives as societal permission for women to act as wantonly as the "bad boys" and diminish themselves by responding solely to their basest desires and whims. Being slutty was now edgy, being slutty was cool, being slutty was oh-so-au-courant.

Undermining the concept of chastity, commitment, fidelity and loyalty was one only one brick in the Red Brick Road - the next brick had to be the defiling of Motherhood as a laudable life goal.

Marx and Engels both identified the traditional family as an entity that would have to be smashed and destroyed in order to achieve the goals of the communist ideal.

In a well written piece by Paul Kengor at the Federalist, he explains Marx's goals included:

to dissolve monogamy in marriage, to pursue pre- and extra-marital sex, to foster and “tolerate” (as Engels put it) the “gradual growth of unconstrained sexual intercourse” by unmarried women, to nationalize all housework, to shift mothers into factories, to move children into daycare nurseries, to separate children into community collectives apart from their natural parents, and, most of all, for society and the state to rear and educate children.

The 1968 Papal Encylical Letter, "Humanae Vitae" which presaged this coming moral storm fomented by the far Left sounds quaint by the modern standards of today's Progressive, anything-goes movement:

"God's Loving Design"

Married love particularly reveals its true nature and nobility when we realize that it takes its origin from God, who "is love," the Father "from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named."

Marriage, then, is far from being the effect of chance or the result of the blind evolution of natural forces. It is in reality the wise and provident institution of God the Creator, whose purpose was to effect in man His loving design. As a consequence, husband and wife, through that mutual gift of themselves, which is specific and exclusive to them alone, develop that union of two persons in which they perfect one another, cooperating with God in the generation and rearing of new lives.

In the 1830s, Alexis De Tocqueville concluded that one of the main reasons American culture was so stable and free of the turmoil found in Europe was because of strong family life:

"There is certainly no country in the world where the tie of marriage is more respected than in America, or where conjugal happiness is more highly or worthily appreciated. In Europe almost all the disturbances of society arise from the irregularities of domestic life.… But when the American retires from the turmoil of public life to the bosom of his family, he finds in it the image of order and of peace. There his pleasures are simple and natural, his joys are innocent and calm; and as he finds that an orderly life is the surest path to happiness, he accustoms himself easily to moderate his opinions as well as his tastes. While the European endeavors to forget his domestic troubles by agitating society, the American derives from his own home that love of order which he afterwards carries with him into public affairs."

So, remove all doubt: destruction of traditional marriage, mate-bonding, and building a family are all high priority goals of the Cultural Marxists.  It seems in today's chaotic world, seeking those admirable safe harbors are the new Revolutionary Acts.
